(NewsPop) – President Obama is announcing a new plan on Tuesday he hopes will reduce gun violence in the United States.

According to the White House, more than 30,000 people die from guns in America each year. Over the last 10 years, more than 20,000 kids under the age of 18 have been killed by firearms.

Mr. Obama wants a government agency called the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to make clear to all people who sell guns at stores, gun shows or over the Internet that they have to have a license to sell them.

Another big part of the President’s plan is for all sellers to conduct background checks on people who buy guns to make sure they do not have criminal records.
