(AP and NewsPop) — An NFL report out Wednesday says New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady probably knew about the under-inflated footballs the team used in a January playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts. As a result of winning that game, the Patriots went on to Super Bowl XLIX, where they beat the Seattle Seahawks 28-24.

The report said Brady “was at least generally aware” that two Patriot employees released some air in the footballs before the game. In return, the employees allegedly received Brady sports swag.

Under-inflated balls are easier to catch and hold on to, especially in the rain.

The NFL is now deciding how to punish the Patriots and Tom Brady.

People have been calling the scandal “Deflategate” since questions about the balls were first raised in January.
