(AP and NewsPop) — The National Football League suspended New England Patriots quarterback and 2015 Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady without pay for the first four games of the upcoming season. The NFL also slapped the Patriots with a record $1 million fine and confiscated two rounds of their draft picks in retaliation for deflating footballs used in the championship AFC game last January against the Indianapolis Colts.

Brady’s suspension will ironically end when the Patriots replay the Indianapolis Colts in October. Tom Brady plans to appeal the NFL’s decision.
